LynuxWorks, CRC, and OIS to present E-Cast on Next-Generation Small Form Factor SDRs

HERNDON, VA – February 8, 2011
– LynuxWorks, Communications Research Centre (CRC), and Objective Interface Systems (OIS) are partnering in an E-cast presentation on next-generation Small Form Factor software defined radios (SDRs).

This event will describe a COTS solution that combines the open standards conformant and secure LynxOS-SE RTOS from Lynuxworks with the high-performance lightweight ORBexpress from OIS and the SCA/SDR framework from CRC. This engineering integration will enable SDR developers to create applications for extremely small form factors with highly constrained size, weight, and power (SWaP) requirements while maintaining full performance and complete backwards compatibility for their existing applications. For more information, visit “Next-Generation SDRs” to register.

About Communications Research Centre Canada (CRC)
CRC is the Canadian government's primary laboratory for research and development (R&D) in advanced wireless and photonics telecommunications. R&D is used for public policy purposes and to strengthen the Canadian economy through technology and knowledge transfer. An early adopter of the Software Communications Architecture (SCA), CRC has been involved in the evolution and adaptation of the specification. CRC provides the only commercial Core Framework to have been deployed in the battlefields. The Core Framework is full-featured and comes with the most comprehensive set of performance optimization features. It has been designed with small devices in mind and this will accelerate the release of its future SCA-Light version. CRC offers a number of other products and services for the development of SDR technology. More information about CRC is available at: www.crc.gc.ca.

About OIS
Objective Interface Systems (OIS) is the worldwide leader in high-performance, real-time and embedded communications middleware solutions. OIS offers advanced real-time connectivity software development tools for use in a variety of vertical markets: telecom/datacom, defense, aerospace, consumer electronics, process control, robotics and transportation. ORBexpress, a high-performance implementation of the Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA), is used wherever systems require an extremely fast, small-footprint communications infrastructure where failure is not an option.

Thousands of customers worldwide use the ORBexpress communications infrastructure to build more flexible, upgradeable and capable products.  Available in C++, Java, Ada, and VHDL for FPGAs, ORBexpress is recognized as the smallest and fastest ORB in the industry by a variety of independent benchmark tests.
